Play the flute, then feed
Taming uses a Taming Flute. Play it to pacify the animal, then feed the foods that animal asks for. An October 2026 taming guide says you often play again between food items, one unit at a time. Do not damage the animal first. A hurt target is described as harder to finish.
Eat before you start. A long tame in the open is how cultists catch you at low hunger.
Zookeeper starts with an Old Taming Flute and levels that flute faster. Feeding tamed animals also heals them more, and Level 3 tames faster. Beastmaster, from the same 2026 taming notes, is the high-capacity version: a five-pet limit, faster attacks, and a free Alpha Wolf. Its Diamond price was not in that note.
Flute tiers
| Flute | Animals that guide assigns to it |
|---|---|
| Old Flute | Bunny, Wolf, Scorpion, Green Frog |
| Good Flute | Alpha Wolf. Snow Fox is also named as a Good Flute tame in the tier list, without a food row |
| Strong Flute | Bear, Mammoth, and Hellephant are named as Strong Flute tames. Only the Mammoth has a full food row below |
Food rows that were fully listed
| Animal | Food | Flute |
|---|---|---|
| Bunny | 1 Carrot | Old |
| Wolf | 3 Steak and 3 Morsel | Old |
| Scorpion | 2 Steak and 2 Morsel | Old |
| Green Frog | 2 Mackerel | Old |
| Alpha Wolf | 4 Salmon, 4 Steak, and 4 Mackerel | Good |
| Mammoth | 10 Pumpkin and 5 Cake | Strong |
Bears, Snow Foxes, and Hellephants are named as tameable without a complete food line in that table. Do not invent a cost for them at the flute. Open the tame prompt and read the request.
Salmon and Mackerel come from fishing. The Fishing Shack and an Old Rod are the early setup, which is the same trip as the yay fishing code. Pumpkins are a Farmer Level 3 guarantee on watered plots, and also a normal crop you can grow without that class. Cake is both a tame ingredient and a heal, so spending it early is the usual way to miss the Mammoth.
Pets have their own health. They can die in a raid. The flute pacifies nearby animals, which is the reported way to take pressure off a pet, not a revive.
