What this board compares

Prices and Level 1 effects come from the September 3, 2025 class table, except Alien which is included because the raygun is a common early combat buy at 100 Diamonds. Classes at 150 Diamonds and above are discussed in the class guide instead of being scored as bad starters.

S tier

starter-valueScavengerLevel 1 is +2 sack space for 25 Diamonds. Chests also open 20% faster at Level 2. Extra carry space is the opening bottleneck on a first account.

Player decision Buy this before Camper if you already have 25 Diamonds.

A tier

starter-valueLumberjackStarts with a Good Axe. Level 1 is a 20% chance of one bonus log per tree. Level 2 adds a 25% chance of a double sapling, which feeds the tree-ring defense.

Player decision Choose this over Scavenger when wood, not inventory, is why your fire stalls.

starter-valueRangerStarts with a flashlight, a revolver, and 18 ammo. That is enough to attempt the first child caves without relying on a Spear.

Player decision Buy Ranger if you already die on the first rescue and looting space is not the problem.

starter-valueMedicTwo bandages and revives that are five times faster at Level 1. Level 3 replaces one bandage with a Medkit.

Player decision One Medic or Support is enough on a team. Do not stack several.

B tier

starter-valueAlienThe raygun is the Level 1 weapon. Night vision is strong, and alien tech recharges faster only at Level 2.

Player decision A good second class after Scavenger, not a replacement for sack space.

Player decision Take it on the teammate who will stand in camp during raids.

C tier

starter-valueCamper10 Diamonds. Level 1 is 10% slower hunger. Level 2 is better night vision. Level 3 spawns you with stew. Fine as a lesson, weak as a plan.

Player decision Buy only if 25 Diamonds for Scavenger is still out of reach.

starter-valueFarmerWatering Can at Level 1 makes watered crops rarer. Pumpkins are guaranteed only at Level 3. Strong after the food loop exists, idle on day 1.

Player decision Wait until you have already crafted plots and you are short on crops, not on day 1.

Is a low tier here a bad class?

No. This board only ranks sensible first purchases for a new set of Diamonds. A 600 Diamond class can be excellent and still be the wrong thing to buy before Scavenger.
